2 Skills to improve your underwater dolphin kick. Swim faster underwater

There are two main challenges in doing an
effective underwater kick. Maintaining a good streamline position and
moving your body like a dolphin. The tighter the streamline is the less resistance
you will have in the water. Submarines have that shape for a reason. If you let water pass besides you instead
of you fighting against it, you will need less power to move forward. The same is true for a swimmer in a tight
streamline. Water will pass besides the body with little
resistance and that is why it looks like they are moving effortlessly through the water. Now if you just see a dolphin swimming you
would assume that the propulsion comes from the back fin, but what you don’t see is
that the power to move it is being generated from the central core muscles. The same goes for the swimmer in the water. The power to move the legs is generated in
the core muscles and upper part of the legs. My friend Daniel who has better underwaters
than me, also uses his arms muscles to create leverage with the water to move his legs even
faster and stronger. With good flexibility and core strength, doing
effective underwater kicks will be much easier and enjoyable. You can struggle with the first point, the
streamline, if you don’t have the necessary flexibility. Flexibility is gain over months, not days. So if you are serious about getting better
at underwater kicks, subscribe to this channel because the next video will be about specific
stretches you can do to improve your underwater kicks. For the second point, moving your body like
a dolphin, you will need a lot of core strength. I will also try to upload a video next week
about core strength specifically for underwater kick improvement. See you next time! Swim fast!

  • good collection

  • Thanks for your video, but could you make a new video with a 50m dolphin kick without cuts for evaluate your speed.

For me Dolphin Kick is the faster for the first 15 meters but after "Atlantis" is better!
    The arms undulations are propulsive.

My best time for 15m Dolphin Kick + 35m Atlantis is 25.21 on 50m swimming pool.

  • What do you mean by using your arms to help?

  • Why don't u go to the olympics

  • Thanks! I’ve had a hard time with the dolphin kick!

  • Buen video gracias.

  • I'm watching this for my butterfly lol hardest of all

  • How to breath underwater dolphin kick. I surface up of the water

  • How do you keep from getting water up your nose when practicing this upside down-facing the surface, your back to the bottom of the pool?

  • That's what I'm trying to improve! Starting movements from the core!

  • thanks a lot!

  • Quick tip: if you point your toes like a ballerina and move your feet up and down, it might give you a boost. I tried it earlier and it worked.

  • I find that if I watch the bottom of the pool (or the ceiling or lane ropes), there is a significant slowdown in my dolphin speed in between the front kick and the back kick. (and vice-versa). Is there something I should focus on in order to not lose so much momentum in between the kicks? I seem to have good speed in the dolphin that is being interrupted between every kick, and I feel as though if I could not lose so much momentum in between the full extension of the kicks it would be a pretty effective dolphin, so I'm hoping to find the answer to this.

  • I practiced ballet and gymnastic before swimming but i dont get it, my body is flexible but i do not move fast.

  • this is really helpful for dominating everyone in sharks in minnows at the pool. you have to tag people's head while their above the surface, so the big kids just dolphin kick along the bottom and I'm always wanted to be able to do that. Great video!

  • 1:35 i seriously saw his face like in my dream like that it was scary xD

  • Beautiful shots. All great visuals. The side by side kicking was definitely cool.

  • My boyfriend swam in high school and one of his old buddies ask me if he’s good in bed. He said it was from the dolphin kick 😂

  • Very helpful, subscribed

  • I need help: Have I got to feel the kick in my hips or in my abs ? Or does the kick starts with the abs or hips or both? I don't understand the movement 🙁

  • Good technique, but my feedback would be you're bending your knees too much both of you.

  • Really helpful.. thanks for providing such a beautiful information.

  • Today I wanna thank you for this ultimate vedio, I saw this vedio again and again for number of times to set the rhythm in my mind and finally I could do the way it's shown by the swimmers. I can't even express my feelings. Thanks a lot.

  • ok, let's practice.
