Carter County rescue members retrieve man submerged in Buckeye Lake


BREAKING NEWS TONIGHT – AN UNDERWATER RESCUE IN THE HIGH COUNTRY OF WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA. AND A TRI-CITIES RESCUE TEAM WAS CALLED INTO ACTION. THAT RESCUE HAPPENED ABOUT AN HOUR AGO… AND WE’VE LEARNED A MAN WHO SPENT HOURS UNDERWATER IS NOW RECOVERING. AROUND SEVEN O’CLOCK TONIGHT THE CARTER COUNTY RESCUE SQUAD WAS CALLED TO BUCKEYE LAKE NEAR BEECH MOUNTAIN . THE HEAD OF THE RESCUE SQUAD SAID A BEECH MOUNTAIN MAINTENANCE WORKER WAS CHECKING WATER LEVELS IN THE LAKE WHEN HE WAS SUCKED INTO A TUBE. DIVERS SPENT HOURS UNDERWATER RESCUING THE MAN… AND PULLED HIM FROM THE LAKE AROUND TEN O’CLOCK TONIGHT. THE MAN WAS TAKEN TO A NEARBY HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT.
