High School Students Take Frigid Plunge In The Name Of Special Olympics


WHEN SMOKE EMERGED, GRIEGO SURRENDERED AND IS NOW FACING ADDITIONAL CHARGES OF ARSON AND CRIMINAL MISCHIEF . A GROUP OF COLORADO’S FINEST CAME TOGETHER FOR A WONDERFUL CAUSE AT ELITCH GARDENS. THEY TOOK A POLAR PLUNGE FOR THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS ATHLETES. WE ARE HERE FOR THE POLAR PLUNGE. TRAU COLORADO SPECIAL OLYMPICS LEADER MAE ROBINSON HAS BEEN HARD AT WORK WITH THE TEAM FROM GRANDVIEW HIGH SCHOOL. WE HAVE RAISED ALMOST $3000. Reporter: THE MONEY WILL GO TO SPECIAL OLYMPICS ATHLETES. TO EARN IT, THE TEAM VOWED TO TAKE A POLAR PLUNGE. DOES IT MAKE YOU NERVOUS? NO, A LOT. IT FEELS AMAZING. IT’S GOING TO BE FREEZING BUT WE ARE EXCITED. IT SEEMS LIKE YOU GOT A COUPLE OF PEOPLE HERE TO SUPPORT YOU. YES. HOW DOES IT FEEL WHEN YOU SEE ALL THESE FRIENDS? I FEEL AMAZING. Reporter: SHE WOULD NEED TO LEAN ON THOSE FRIENDS TODAY FOR THE ACTUAL PLUNGE. SHE PLAYS BASKETBALL FOR THE UNIFIED BASKETBALL TEAM AT GRANDVIEW HIGH SCHOOL. SHE HAS A BIG TRIP PLANNED THIS SUMMER.
