Lightning concerns cancel rec swim at Paul Nelson Aquatic Center


RESIDENTS TRIED COOLING DOWN TODAY.. BY HITTING THE POOLS. THE LOMPOC AQUATIC CENTER OPENED FOR A SHORT TIME FOR LABOR DAY. THE POOL HAS BEEN PACKED ALL WEEKEND LONG. THE PAUL NELSON AQUATIC CENTER IN SANTA MARIA WAS SUPPOSED TO OPEN ITS POOL FOR A SHORT PERIOD TODAY… BUT CANCELED because OF POSSIBLE LIGHTNING. ROSALINDA HADDAD OXNARD, CA “IT MAKES ME FEEL GOOD BECAUSE THEY ARE BEING SAFE AND KEEPING PEOPLE SAFE WE CAN ALWAYS TAKE THE KIDS AND GO HOME AND HAVE A PICNIC IN THE BACKYARD HAHAHA” THE POOL HAS ITS OWN GAUGE THAT ALERTS THEM WHEN CONDITIONS CAN SUPPORT A LIGHTNING STORM… AND LIFEGUARDS SAY ITS BEEN SOUNDING OFF ALL
