Spitzmaus Mummy in a Coffin and Other Treasures – Wes Anderson & Juman Malouf – Zoo

For this series of short films
we are going to give you a glimpse into some of the rooms
that Wes and Juman have put together for the exhibition
Spitzmaus Mummy in a Coffin and Other Treasures. A zoo full of extraordinary animals. Wes and Juman decided to break
the separation between art and nature. They returned to the old idea
of aCabinet of Wonders. The most popular items
ingeniously combine art and nature, such as the bizarre bird made of ivory
in the middle of the showcase. In the stand-alone showcase,
you’ll find the star of our show, the tiny sarcophagus of a shrew,
in German, a “Spitzmaus”. The shrew was a sacred animal
in Egyptian mythology and, like many other animals,
was mummified. In this case,
however, its coffin is empty. The exhibition will be here in Vienna
until April, the 28th. We look forward to see you!
